Yonkers native and veteran to the game, Styles P, released his latest mixtape “The Diamond life Project” on August 23rd. With only 11 songs and 35 minutes long, it is straight and to the point.
In typical Styles P fashion, the music is gritty and is geared to the streets. Songs like “Gripping over here” featuring French Montana and Pusha T, and “Keep Me High” are just that. Talking smoking dutches, getting high and making money. The topics Styles P has become synonymous with.
My favorite tracks off of the mixtape are “Yo Trill Sheet” featuring Bun B and “Thru the Struggle” featuring Currensy and Raheem DeVaughn. They are very different from each other but
both really dope in their own right.
All in all, while Styles isn’t necessarily my favorite rapper or even my favorite type of rap, I appreciate him and this mixtape for staying true to himself. I’d recommend it to anyone who can appreciate the same.
